Remember Kanzi – the amazing bonobo that knows over 360 symbols on his lexigram and understands English? We’ve just learned some new cool things about him…see if any of them sound familiar:

• He loves to play Hide-n-Seek.
• He loves to play Keep Away.
• He loves to play video games – Ms. Pacman is his favorite.
• He loves to pretend. For example, he pretends that he eats all of the peaches (drawings) on Georgia license plates!

And, Kanzi isn’t the only one. Many of the bonobos at the Great Ape Trust are competent in English now enabling us to learn more and more about them and to interact with them on a deeper level every day…

Of course, there are things that separate us from bonobos - but, we’re always fascinated by the similarities we find.
